She preferably uses a typewriter to write these texts that are both very direct and mysterious, expressing a sense of wonder, but also dealing with the struggle with the imperfections of daily life. She them as stand-alone typographic images, but also incorporates some of the words alongside geometric shapes into layered, horizontal compositions. The latter are in turn reminiscent of the structures in dance and musical notations for a choreography or music partiture.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]In addition to being a visual artist, Elsbeth Ciesluk (1986) is an athlete who runs the fifteen hundred meters at a national level. Earlier she also practiced classical dance. Pushing yourself to the limit as a dancer and athlete is also present in her artwork in the time consuming process of making large woodcuts but also in performances that can be physically exhausting. For example, she did a performance in which she dances on a floor covered with white paper on which paint is dripped.
