Dieter Mammel (1965) has a solo at the Meno Parkas Gallery in Kaunas, Lithuania. In the exhibition entitled Transit, Mammel deals with the theme of the refugee and the displaced. Himself being a grandchild of grandparents who had to flee to Germany at the end of the Second World War, the work is also about identity and the transition from one culture to another. The exhibition features thirty mostly new works in Mammel’s characteristic painting technique of ink on wet canvas. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue and will travel on to Galerie Hübner in Frankfurt and Galerie Maurits van de Laar.
