Ten years ago Elmar Tenkwalder (1959) was commissioned to make a ceramic portal for the garden of the FRAC Alsace, the regional centre for contemporary art at Sélestat, France. The garden contains works of art as well as a small vineyard. Elmar Trenkwalder’s gate marks the entrance with two large ceramic towers that reach towards eachother. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the installation of the gate the FRAC organizes the exhibition Les Mystères de la Fusion (The Mystery of Fusion). It contains photos documenting the preparation and installation of the work, as well as the ceramic model for the gate which was Trenkwalder’s first ceramic work for the public space.

Les Mystères de la Fusion
