At Art Rotterdam Galerie Maurits van de Laar presents the installation Slow Learners by Susanna Inglada in stand 72 of the solo/duo section of the fair.

The installation refers to social tensions in society caused by an unequal distribution of wealth and power and a burdened past that people have not yet come to terms with. Susanna Inglada (1983) makes highly expressive drawings of people who are involved in an intense, sometimes even violent interaction with each other.
She first attended drama school in Barcelona before she devoted herself to visual arts. Her work therefore has a strong theatrical quality. Often the drawings are three-dimensional, she cuts out the human figures and places them in the exhibition space like actors on a stage. The visitor is confronted up close with their interaction when entering her installations.

Susanna Inglada studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, Willem de Kooning Academy Rotterdam, Frank Mohr Institute Groningen and HISK Ghent. In 2019 she won the National Art Prize De Scheffer, of which the solo exhibition Thin Skin About To Tear can be seen until 8 March in the Dordrechts Museum. In 2018 she was one of the winners of the Generaciones Prize of the Montemadrid foundation, a leading prize for Spanish artists up to 35 years of age and she won the 2nd international Prize of the Guasch Coranty Foundation in Barcelona.

The fair includes the Prospects and Concepts exhibition of the Mondrian Fund. Guestcurator Johan Gustavsson selected 67 artists that received a young talent grant of the fund in 2018. Amongst them is Tobias Lengkeek (1991) who built a skate-ramp in which he integrated some of his paintings.
