Nare Eloyan
Nare Eloyan (1988) is interested in art that has close ties to everyday life; as a kind of ethnography of urban society where the boundaries between high and low culture have faded. She collects ceramic vases on markets and in second hand shops which she considers as material handed to her by the urban environment. By painting images and texts on them she adds artistic value to them connects her art with society and daily life.
In her drawings there is also a connection with popular culture with references to comic strips. In a direct, straightforward way she documents her own experiences but also refers to society, art and literature on a more general level. Like in comics there is often a combination of image and text. Nare Eloyan also made a series of masks in papier mache, a kind of archetypes that neverthless have individual features and character.
