Dieter Mammel – Lifeline
Dieter Mammel (1965) has a solo exhibition at the National Art Museum of Timisoara, Romania. The title of the exhibition Lifeline refers to the history of Mammel’s family, who had to flee from Timisoara at the end of the Second World War. The series of paintings he made for the exhibition address the themes of homeland, flight, shelter, family album and survival. Mammel addresses both the collective traumas caused by the war and the difficult process of coming to terms with them and the healing process afterwards.
