Marcel van Eeden (1965) participates in the groupshow KRIJT (CHALK ) at Kunsthal KAdE in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. As the title suggests, the use of chalk as a drawing material is central to the exhibition’s theme. In addition to existing works by artists such as Joseph Beuys, Rudolf Steiner and Juan Muñoz, the exhibition features new works specifically made with chalksticks on blackboard at the request of Kunsthal KAdE.

Marcel van Eeden has drawn two cityscapes with white chalk on a blackboard surface, a negative version as it were of his regular drawings in neropencil on white Fabriano paper. Other participating artists are: Marijn Akkermans, Jitske Bakker, Nik Christensen, Hanneke Francken, Lenneke van der Goot, Susanna Inglada, Arno Kramer, Bart Lodewijks, Romy Muijrers, Marc Nagtzaam, Mayke Nas, Nemanja Nikolić, Thomas Raat, Hans Schuttenbeld & Jilles de Man, Roland Sohier, Guy Vording, Witte Wartena, Marjolijn de Wit, Marthe Zink.

In the specially designed CHALKroom and CHALKclassroom, visitors can actively experiment with chalk, for instance by drawing on the walls and furniture, or creating large chalk drawings with available instruments.
